COVID-19 UPDATE 5/25/2021

Dear clients of D’Adamo Veterinary Hospital:

To the clients of D’Adamo Veterinary Hospital,

As of May 14, the CDC has lifted its mask mandate for vaccinated people. For veterinary clinics this creates many challenges and obstacles as there are no clear guidelines on how to begin the process of returning to normal. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services still recommends all individuals, regardless of vaccine status, should still mask in indoor health care setting. We want to make it very clear to our clients that we miss seeing all of you face to face and cannot wait to open our doors fully. However, to ensure that we can continue caring for your pets safely and efficiently, we will continue to operate via curbside appointments for the time being. Additionally, we do ask that clients continue to wear masks (regardless of vaccination status) and observe social distancing while interacting with staff members.

Why are we continuing to operate in this manner?

1. At this time, our team feels most comfortable with curbside appointments. D’Adamo Veterinary Hospital is a very small building. Exam rooms are small, enclosed spaces, and the ability to maintain social distancing in them is impossible.

2. Determining which of our clients have been vaccinated or not is difficult and intrusive.

3. Our priority is to keep our doctors and the staff safe so we can continue to care for our patients. One sick employee significantly impacts our ability to provide optimal care for your pets and if one of the doctors were to get become sick we would have to cancel many appointments, leaving many patients without veterinary care.  If more than one employee were to become sick we would have to shut down completely leaving even more patients without care. This has occurred at several area veterinary hospitals, as recently as April 2021and we want to avoid this at D’Adamo.

4. We need time to properly prepare for changing our workflow to accommodate clients back into the building while abiding by current CDC guidelines and local regulations.

We will monitor and adjust our policy accordingly, but please know that our priority is the health and safety of you, your pet, and our staff. This decision is not a reflection of the beliefs of any individual team member at D’Adamo Veterinary Hospital. We kindly ask that clients remain respectful of this decision and treat staff members relaying this information with kindness and understanding. Over the last year the veterinary community has been greatly affected mentally and emotionally and we know that our clients are mindful of this and we truly appreciate it. Our goal is to return to “normal” as quickly as possible while keeping our staff safe and comfortable, but this will take some time and we want to thank you in advance for your cooperation.

In the meantime, we will continue communicating with our clients via phone during appointments and give each pet the individual attention it needs. We will continue to provide abundant amounts of snuggles, cheese, and treats.  If your pet has a favorite treat, feel free to bring it to their next appointment.

We will continue to send new information out to you as our policies change so that you can remain informed. Once again, thank you so much for your continued support and understanding!
